• The Quality Laboratory is a state-of-the-art computing facility housed within the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Ort Braude College. This lab is equipped with several PCs with high-speed processors and extended memory, a Window NT cluster running on Pentium PC networks for general applications and internet access. A wide array of Quality software packages are available to support a variety of research projects.
  • The Quality Laboratory serves to support both educational and research needs in terms of experimentation, computing, and modeling. Current research includes statistical design of experiments, acceptance sampling techniques, statistical process control, and evaluation regarding quality and productivity dimensions. Applications here include strategies in process improvement.
  • The laboratory is a focal point for teaching and research in Statistical Quality Control for Complex Processes. It houses experimental tools for illustrating key concepts of statistical variations, and presents successful industrial applications of statistical tools for excellence in quality. Research is focused on innovative methodologies that are applicable in meeting the challenges of today's high-tech, high-volume, high-yield, and data-intensive manufacturing environment. Some completed and on-going projects include the development of process control techniques for near zero-defect processes; improved optimization techniques for robust design, techniques for shortening reliability testing duration using degradation measures, reliability monitoring and analysis for repairable systems, and optimal design in accelerated reliability tests. Computer-based teaching materials resulting from research findings are also being developed in the laboratory.

  • Qsoft
    The "Qsoft" software is a quality management tool that enables the laboratory to collect and analyze quality data and represents the result in pareto, pie, histogram graphs. The software enables us to analyze data according to '5S' method. The Qsoft program is compatible with ISO 9000-2000.
  • CARE (Computer Aided Reliability Engineering) suite
    The Care suite software program for Reliability Prediction enables the laboratory to calculate reliability according to several methods, and analyze field data (FDA). With the RBD module we can draw reliability diagram and calculate serial or parallel block diagram. The MTTR module calculates maintainability data. The LCC module enables to calculate Life Cycle Cost. FMECA and FTA enable to analyze and to identify weaknesses in reliability or safety of systems.
  • SPSS
    Proficiency with statistical software packages is indispensable today for serious research in the sciences. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) is one of the most widely available and powerful statistical software packages. It covers a broad range of statistical procedures that allow you to summarize data (e.g., compute means and standard deviations), determine whether there are significant differences between groups (e.g., t-tests, analysis of variance), examine relationships among variables (e.g., correlation, multiple regression), and graph results (e.g., bar charts, line graphs).
    In our laboratory we use SPSS for the aim of quality analysis ( Pareto, quality cost analysis etc.)

    Contained in Microsoft Office XP spreadsheet and analysis program. It gives professionals the tools that are required for data management data, and everyday users the power to get the most out of their information. We use it for the analysis of acceptance sampling plan characteristics, quality data analysis and quality cost analysis.
