For the first time in the Galilee, at the ORT Braude College, a three-year Bachelor of Sciences (B.Sc.) study program in Applied Mathematics has been opened.
Applied mathematics is an area that deals with studying phenomena in nature and society using mathematical tools. Consequently, applied mathematics is the base of diverse work and research areas such as technological and financial process analyses, design streamlining and cost cutting of production processes, financial management of organizations and institutions, processing and forecasting of experimental results.
The three years of study before attaining the B.Sc. equips the students with a broad base in mathematics, an understanding of economic laws, the ability to integrate different disciplines, the professional using computerized models, and a basic understanding of electronic and mechanical systems. Graduates of the program will have a considerable advantage in industry and research.
In the framework of the program, students choose the specialization in mathematical modeling either of economics or electro-mechanical systems, which expertise will allow them to work effectively as partners in high tech development teams in the areas of: banking and financial consulting, nanotechnology and robotics, computerized tomography and medical equipment, and quality of the environment.
